Library Staff in Transition

As of January 31, 2014, long-time Public Services Manager, Nicole "Nicky" McDermott ended her career with Hope. She had started as a student worker in 1998 and moved up over the years to fill this important position.

Farewell, Nicole McDermott
The Public Service Manager is the heart and soul of the Darling Library. This position is responsible for our two public service desks, and for training and managing the Student Library Assistant work force to make the library function on a day-to-day basis. Nicky set the tone for hospitality and efficiency for many years. She will be sorely missed!

Although it was not really possible to "fill her shoes," on March 3rd we welcomed our new Public Services Manager, Katy Lines, who is already making a path in the library with her own shoes!

Welcome, Katy Lines!
Katy comes from a ministry and mission background having most recently served as Director of Children’s Ministries at a local Presbyterian church. Prior to that, she spent ten years on the mission field with CMF International among the Turkana of northwest Kenya with her husband, Dr. Kevin "Kip" Lines, HIU Professor of Multicultural Studies. Katy holds a BA in Missions (Bible/Ministry & Sociology) from Milligan College and an MA in Religion in the area of Christian Doctrine from Emmanuel Christian Seminary. Katy, Kip and their two sons, Patrick (15) and Brian (11) live in Fullerton.

Contact Katy Lines at (714) 879-3901, ext. 1223 or library_circ @ hiu.edu with questions about circulation policies and procedures, course reserves, interlibrary loans, library fines, library hours, the Information Commons, or to reserve the library for a class or meeting.
