1. Go to http://library.hiu.edu using your phone’s browser.
2. Before you enter your search terms, you can scroll down to limit your search
- by relevancy (most helpful when you don’t know the exact book you want)
- to books (by format type)
- to English (or another language)
- to only books found in our library (instead of libraries worldwide)
Do we own the book you want?
YES – Proceed to step A.
NO – Proceed to step B.
A. If we own the book that you want to borrow, you can click on the Place Hold button.
NOTE: You will be prompted for your University ID number and password. If you have not yet registered for a library patron account to allow you to borrow books, click here for instructions: http://libanswers.hiu.edu/a.php?qid=87512
If it is Available, we will retrieve it from the shelf and hold it for you at the Circulation Desk for up to one week. If it is currently checked out, you will be next in line to borrow it. We will contact you when it is returned and hold it for you for up to a week from the time of notification.
B. By default WorldCat will search for books in Libraries Worldwide. This means that you may discover books that we don't own as well as those that we have onsite. That’s because if we do not own the book that you want to borrow, you may still be able to get it.
Unfortunately, if we don’t own a book you want to borrow, you will need to click on the Full Site link at the bottom of the page to exit the mobile interface. Repeat your search and click on the Request Interlibrary Loan button.
If you don’t see a Request Interlibrary Loan button, you will need to sign in first. Click here for Patron Account Login instructions: http://libanswers.hiu.edu/a.php?qid=137391&m=p
