National Library Week 2012

This is National Library Week (April 8 - 14)! Every year I like to post something everyday of the week which draws attention to a service, resource, or added value that the library contributes to our community. This year we celebrate with five stories of Hope International University alumni who are working in libraries.

Starting today, we will highlight alumni representing:
  • five graduating classes (from 1983 to 2003)
  • four majors
  • five pathways
  • two MLIS degrees
  • three paraprofessionals
who are working in:
  • four kinds of libraries
  • five different jobs
  • five states
I hope this will be an interesting and informative way to take a more personal look at libraries and librarians as well as to ponder how Hope International University's mission "to empower students through Christian higher education to serve the Church and impact the world for Christ" might be born out by our alumni in this field.

Trivia: HIU alumni who are currently working in the Darling Library:
  • Danilo Pereria (BA, 2011), Student Library Assistant
  • Nicole McDermott (BA, 2003, MBA, 2007), Public Services Manager
  • Terri Bogan (AA, 1983), Associate Librarian for Reference and Instruction
  • Robin Hartman (BA, 1981), Director of Library Services
