If you've been thinking about donating some used books to the Darling Library some day -- today is some day! Even if you don't think we can use them, box them up and bring them in!
It's not that we're desperate. We're competitive!
This month Better World Books has created a friendly competition to collect as many books as
possible during the month of September. The library that sends the
most books will win $1,000 in BetterWorldBooks.com credit! (At BWB prices, that could buy us quite a few books that we could use in our collection!)
When we receive duplicates or books that do not fit with our curriculum
needs (like cookbooks and popular self-help books) we send them to
Better World Books. They manage used books sales online for many
libraries. We receive a percentage on consignment and part of the
proceeds supports a literacy initiative, Books for Africa.
For information about how to donate books to the Darling Library, contact Lindsey Sinnott by email at library_acq@hiu.edu or by phone at (714) 879-3901, ext. 1218. Read more about how this works.
