Meet Liz Yeh, our Systems Intern for the summer! Liz just graduated with her MLIS degree from San Jose State University’s School of Library and Information Science in May 2011 and is interested in working with library systems in an academic environment.
This summer, as we transition from a traditional integrated library system to one operating "in the cloud", we will provide plenty of opportunities for her to apply her skills and newly acquired professional degree! Together we will be incorporating web 2.0 technologies to meet real-life library user needs and exploring interoperability between library and other campus systems (such as eCollege HopeOnline courseware.)
Liz has a background in corporate applications programming including experience in programming on mainframe and Unix platforms with Perl, SQL, and COBOL as well as project management. Her more recent skills include website design and development (xhtml, Dreamweaver, Joomla! CMS, PHP, MySQL, CSS) and coursework in cataloging, website usability, databases and metadata. She is going to be helping us redesign our Library Home Page.
Her library experience includes volunteer work in special library settings. Most recently, she has been working for the Laguna College of Art and Design library.
We welcome Liz and look forward to a summer relationship that will be mutually beneficial!
