Tooting our own Blogs

You may have heard the expression, "I'm tooting my own horn." In this post, we would like to toot our own University's horn by drawing attention to a couple of our faculty blogs. Blogging (writing a "blog" - short for Web Log) is an increasingly popular form of "publishing" on the Web.

Two blogs that are currently published regularly by Hope faculty:

  • In Hope, by Dr. David Timms, School of Graduate Studies, Ministry Department Chair. In Hope "began in January, 2001 specifically as a leadership resource with an emphasis on skill development. Since that time it has steadily morphed. Today, its purpose is to encourage believers in their spiritual formation."

  • BAREROOTS "is intended for small group discussion or personal enrichment." Contributors are Dr. Chris Davis, Dean of the School of Professional Studies and Dr. Timms.
Archives and subscription information for both blogs can be found on the University's web site. Go to http://www.hiu.edu/ and click on Publications, then scroll to the bottom and click on the link for either title.

In print. Both of these authors can also be found in print. Copies of their books are available for check out in the Darling Library along with many other HIU faculty publications.

Davis, Christopher. Revelation (Joplin, MO : College Press Pub., c2000).

_____. The structure of Paul’s theology : "the truth which is the Gospel" (Mellen Biblical Press, c1995).

Riter, Tim and David Timms. Just Leave God Out of It : The Cultural Compromises We Make (Cook Communications Ministries Int'l, 2004).
